Derwen College In-Folio Rollout Event
We didn’t have as many colleges in attendance as we would have liked because we wanted to highlight not only the fantastic potentials of the In-Folio application but also the value of e-portfolios.
We were pretty late in coming in on the In-Folio development but we quickly got to grips with the programme due to its intuitive functionality. There were a few difficulties with the application but that is to be expected and the RIX centre was very amenable in getting that sorted.
A message that was reinforced throughout is that it is not about the application but rather the power of the multimedia in allowing students to celebrate their learning journeys. At the Derwen, we have successfully introduced e-portfolios through PowerPoint. While it has limitations, it has proven invaluable in allowing us to assess the impact of e-portfolios on our learners. The students have a much better understanding of their learning and are able to take ownership of their progression. A simple camera, Flip or even mobile phone can capture the moment in real time and be shared with others over infinitely. It works!!!
We are currently trialling the In-Folio with students and staff and will keep you posted.
